CD Release Party

Concert 8pm – doors open 7:30

Marie-Véronique Bourque is a jazz flutist and songwriter originally from Quebec City who currently lives in Regina, Saskatchewan. Classically trained, she has performed with groups of various musical genres (jazz, classical, cabaret, blues, baroque, world music, folk and traditional). Her diverse background has allowed her to develop a unique style characterized by a rich sound, developed technique and palpable sensitivity.

First hired by the RCMP Band in 1992, Marie-Véronique pursued a police career for 25 years in parallel to her musical career following the dismantling of the group in 1993.

In 2017, Marie-Véronique toured Montreal and Quebec City where she performed with Christine Tassan, Marie-Noëlle Claveau and Clément Robichaud. She also toured Paris and Switzerland where she performed with artists from Switzerland, Great Britain and France including pianist Alain Jean-Marie.

In 2018, she participated as a performer in the Ali Ryerson Jazz Flute Masterclass in California. She was also the opening act for Carol Welsman during the Regina Jazz Fest and was featured with Maurice Drouin and the Resonance Duo during the Festival Fête Fransaskoise at Pike Lake, Sk.

Marie-Véronique is now thrilled to release her first Jazz album. Une porte s’ouvreis dedicated to French Jazz and was recorded with some incredible musicians from Calgary, Regina and Quebec: Michelle Gregoire (piano), Tyler Hornby (drums), Jeremy Coates (double bass), Mark DeJong (tenor sax), Jack Semple (guitar) and Marie-Noëlle Claveau (vocal). Une porte s’ouvreincludes three original songs. One of these originals, “Excusez-moi”, composed by Marie-Véronique and Michelle Gregoire was selected in semi-finals of the Canadian Songwriting Competition 2018 in the Francophone category.
